New vs Used Gym Equipment
6 min read
When buying used gym equipment saves money, and when new is the better decision.
Where used wins
Plate-loaded machines, racks, benches, dumbbells and plates have almost nothing to fail. Buying these used routinely saves 50% or more with no practical downside.
Where new wins
Anything with a motor, a touchscreen or a connected subscription. Warranty and parts support matter most on the machines that have the most to go wrong.
Refurbished sits in between
A properly refurbished machine has new wear parts, new upholstery and a warranty from the refurbisher. Ask exactly what was replaced — 'refurbished' is not a regulated term.
